#OpenFieldChampionships
Today is the first day of the Australian Field Nationals and it’s fitting as they start to acknowledge one of our biggest contributors and advocates for the Australian Open Field format – David Rowson and Marie Hulbert.
Since the 2022 event, David and Marie have contributed a significant amount in prize money, silver buckles and pins to the Australian Open Field Championships.
We are so grateful to David and Marie for their involvement and contribution to the sport of archery. They both have been key figures in Archery NSW for many years, playing key roles within the state and club committees and promoting archery to all levels and ages.
As a member of Penrith City Archers, David has been promoting an intermediate coaching program and assisting with beginner courses. Penrith City Archers has flourished with all disciplines of archery being practised: target, field, clout and indoor.
Thanks to all the volunteers, organising committee and members of the Archery SA community for organising and bringing us a great Australian Open Field Championships that David, Marie and the AA community will be proud of.

National Volunteer Week | Club Committees
This group really keep the lights on in clubs across Australia. Through planning, leadership and behind-the-scenes work, club presidents, treasurers, secretaries, coaching administrators, committee members and the all rounders who help keep clubs moving forward.
2025 volunteer of the year Kerry Cheras knows these roles all too well across the various roles she holds contributing to her club, her RGB SQAS and for AA at events. “I get to travel and meet up with archers from all walks of life right across Australia at various events”
Thank you Kerry, and to the members who contribute to their club if they are handy on the tools or for those who want to be part of something bigger than themselves and create the best club environment, you all make the clubs what they are.

National Volunteer Week | Judges
When officials step into competition, judging is a chance to contribute to archery in a way that supports fairness, consistency and integrity at every level of competition. Judges bring knowledge of the rules, measured decision-making and a calm presence in high-pressure moments.
It was a natural progression for 2 time national record holder for her age group, Shirley Biggs who is a National Judge. “I wanted to give something back to the sport and decided to become a National Judge. I have been president of my club and have run many State and National events”
Shirley demonstrates the many ways to get involved with archery. Thank you judges for the professionalism and care you bring to the field. Your work helps ensure our sport is fair, safe and respected at every level.
