David Barnes, Ryan Tyack and Taylor Worth were today announced by the Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission for Tokyo 2020 Ian Chesterman as Members of the Australian Olympic Team.
The Archery Australia Board were pleased and proud to nominate David, Ryan and Taylor to represent Australia in this years Olympic Games in Tokyo. The archers were nominated after they earned their places at the recent Australian Olympic selection trials.
David, Ryan and Taylor will compete in both the mens team and individual events in Tokyo, with Ryan and Taylor looking to continue their Olympic success after their bronze medal in Rio.
Taylor will be making his third Olympic appearance, with teammates Ryan and David set to compete in their second games. David is making his Olympic comeback after a remarkable 16 year gap between his first Olympics as an 18 year old in Athens.
When speaking to the AOC David said “I always felt like I had unfinished business in Archery. Being part of a Team with Ryan and Taylor who have been shooting so well for years and the defending bronze medallists is fantastic, I’m excited to see what we can do together.”
Archery Australia are very fortunate and thankful for the continued support of the athletes and the High Performance Program from Sport Australia, AIS, the State Sporting Institutes and of course the Australian Olympic Committee.
Archery Australia CEO Rick Hastie noted “The team have been working incredibly hard over the last three years, producing some very promising results which is not only a testament to a lot of hard work and dedication by the athletes, but also our National Coach Ya Ping Shih and our High Performance Team led by Graeme Rose.
We understand the huge sacrifices that all our athletes, support teams and their families make to get to this point and we are fully behind them in preparation for what is set to be an exciting couple of months in the lead up to Tokyo 2020.
We cannot wait to see David, Ryan and Taylor in action along with the rest of the Australian Team.”

- Archery Australia would like to thank Sydney Olympic Park Archers for hosting today’s announcement.
- Australia’s female archers have the chance to earn an individual quota spot at the Championships in Fiji next month. This would also allow Australia to compete in the mixed teams event, which is making its Olympic debut
- Archery events will run from 24 July to 1 August 2020 and consists of Teams and Individual events for men and women and a mixed Teams event making its Olympic debut
