Pathway Program


The Archery Australia Pathway Program is designed to given members options and clear direction to achieve success in Archery.

At the Start

The program starts we a new person deciding to try archery. They should firstly contact an Archery Australia Club, the club will offer either a Come N Try session or formal instruction.

Come N Try is a very informal introduction to the sport usually taking between one and one and a half hours.  All equipment is provided and there is low commitment on the part of the participant.

The participant is provided with the basics of safety, equipment and shooting technique.

Following the Come N Try they may wish to progress further, the next step is formal instruction.

Formal Instruction is truly the first step on the Archery pathway. Sessions usually take between one and half and two hours and there are generally 4 session although this varies depending upon the club.

The participant will receive more in depth instruction on safety, technique, equipment, rules and activities.

During these session the participant is introduced to scoring and how to use scorecards and generally they start taking part in the OzBow Program.

After the formal instruction its now time to join the club and start and take part in club activities. Its also time the new member should consider purchasing their own equipment, although many clubs allow new member to use club equipment before purchasing their own.

When purchasing equipment always seek advice from the Club Coaches, its can be a vary expensive and frustrating exercise purchasing the wrong equipment.
